A batch of auto parts that had begun their northbound journey from Thailand entered China through Yunnan’s Mohan railway port and reached southwest China’s Chengdu city on July 7, according to Kunming Customs.

Having finished their ride on the China-Laos and Kunming-Chengdu freight trains, the Thai goods will be transported via a China-Europe freight train that will pass through Kazakhstan, Belarus, Poland and finally arrive in Budapest, Hungary.

Compared with the traditional transportation mode of “sea plus road plus rail”, the “China-Laos and China-Europe” international freight trains are expected to cut the logistics duration by 15 to 20 days, said a staffer with Kunming Customs.

In the first half of this year, Kunming Customs has inspected and seen off 2.146 million tons of cross-border freight on the China-Laos railway, up 194.4% year on year.
