Since its opening in December 2021, the China-Laos Railway has handled more than 16 million passengers, including 20,000 plus cross-border passengers from 28 countries.

The Chinese section of the railway carried 13.53 million passengers, while the Lao section handled 2.47 million, according to China Railway Kunming Group.

The 1,035km China-Laos Railway opened cross-border passenger service on April 13, 3023, cutting the time for the Kunming-Vientiane trip to 10.5 hours.
